This is a sketch of oils on oil paper that I drew and painted and named "5th St Trolley" . It is similar in design to an actual one but only similar, not exact and not named the same as the real trolley. It is 8 x12 on oil papper [paper designed to hold oil paints].

This is the most recent "old man "sketch I have created and I drew this while watching a documentary about King Lear of Shakespeare. I painted it also with watercolors.

This is the oil painting I painted to show the areas that old people seem to worry about [in the light green places]. I named this oil painting "Anxiety". It is oil on canvas.

This is the oil painting in my ethnic series [#ethnicseries] that I created [drew, painted] and named "American rancher". It is oil on canvas.

This is a sketch I drew and painted of an American preacher that was similar to a real man. I modify the faces if I am drawing from real, live people, who are NOT public figures. Preachers are not public figures, i.e. they are not elected to office and not considered "public" but private. So I changed the features enough so they are not recognizable in those situations.

This is the ethnic series sketch of a real person [sort of] of the Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab that I saw in the BBC news. He is a "public figure" and so is considered all right to paint him or sketch him. I generally do not make exact images of anybody, and most of the time, the sketches or oil paintings I designate as #ethnicseries [ethnic series] are not real people but people I created with pencils, pens, inks or paints. Probably of the approximate 1000 art "works" I have created [for my own purposes] only about 20 of them are of real people. I watch the news for ethnic groups clearly identified and close up enough to discern clearly their features so I can draw from it, then paint it with an authentic looking "costume" that a native to that country/ region would wear. I have created hundreds of ethnic series sketches and about forty oil paintings for it also. This is a quick sketch only that I drew in ink while sitting at my computer studying it on screen, and then painted it just as quickly in watercolors. A sketch is merely intended to make a quick impression of a person, or idea, or thing so it can be repainted into oils or acrylics later. This is a pencil drawing I drew last night while watching TV. I have not decided whether to paint it but am thinking I will leave it as a drawing only. This is not a real person and I was drawing a similar drawing to a photo I saw in anatomy book.

After I had trouble making this pencil drawing appear in a photo, I began using a particular pencil to create drawings to photograph & changed the settings some on my camera. I know you have to look close to see this drawing. You might need to darken the contrast. I will rephotograph this drawing at some point in time but not today. I have all of the art I created and posted to this blog in my apartment in Missouri.

This is a pencil and ink drawing I drew years ago as the preliminary for the oil painting in my #ethnicseries of "The Sultan" that you can view on my mini exhibit of art entitled "Gloria's blog" at https://mini-exhibition.blogspot.com. I enlarged it after I uploaded which made it blurred a bit. For some reason, when I uploaded it it was in thumbnail size but is not in thumbnail size in either the drawing or my photo of the drawing. So, I enlarged it to make it more visible. It may also be on my mini exhibit of art blog.

The 3 photos below on my tablecloth are only photos [not sketches] that I photographed this morning to make visuals to use to paint from for fabric, metals, and fruit and bread. I intentionally did not iron my tablecloth because I am trying to teach myself to paint fabric folds, metals, and ceramics and bread so I wanted the photos to show those. I put 2 plastic cups because one didn't make as good a composition but I live alone. Also, I like the colors of red and green together always as anyone who ever viewed my #red exhibits of art and photographs knows. I put an arrangement of items to create these photos :

Solidarity with Journos and cartoonists everywhere from Gloria Poole, RN, artist of Missouri

I created a simple display to show solidarity [a sense of compassion understanding of the stress and risks involved ] with journalists and cartoonists everywhere because of the events today in France. I personally love to read and view the news and its photos. AND sometimes I even draw and then paint from news' photos. I cannot imagine a world where the Press is bound by shackles, or prison cells, or fear. I am blessed to be born in the United States where I am guaranteed the freedom of Press to publish my thoughts, words, beliefs both religious and political, my opinions, my art I create and yes, my cartoons I create too. I put the French as I saw it in the news today and then the English translation except that I put the letter a in parenthesis as (a) to make the name "Charlie" synonymous with a cartoonist or journo in this situation.

What happened in France today [to magazine Charlie Hegbo] should not have happened. It was an act of terror and an act of war, and a lot of people around the world will be mobilized because of it and descend on parts of the world like gnats on a dog in summer. I cannot do a lot of things I once could do, but I can draw, paint, sketch, photograph and write. This is my protest of acts of terror in France today.

As part of the first amendment U S citizens are also allowed to worship GOD [or not] and to protest their government with words and appropriate actions. It was a horrible thing that happened earlier today in France when 12 journalists and cartoonists were murdered for PUBLISHING their opinions. This post is my protest of that. I ask all protestors everywhere to remember the commandment of GOD as written, "thou shalt not kill" in Exodus 20:13, King James Holy Bible. There is a right and a wrong way to protest. The wrong way is murdering those you disagree with. The right way is writing or speaking, or creating satirical art, or creating cartoons, or writing books that present the problems in ways people can understand, or marching in the street, or sit down strikes, or praying in public ; or putting tape over your mouth with words such as a voice for the voiceless. There are literally dozens of way protestors can get attention without resorting to tactics that will send you to hell! I, Gloria Poole, of Missouri photographed these this past week and am posting them here because red is such a cheerful color and it has its own hashtag! And the days are short because it is winter so red brightens up everything.

This is a felt stocking for Christmas but its message is eternal: "peace on earth and good will toward all men" from Luke chapter 2, in King James Holy Bible.

This is a nutcracker doll and it is a symbol of the ballet "The Nutcracker" that is popular at Christmas season, and that is well-known to me for several reasons.

This is an ornament on a Christmas tree.

I am posting this corrected copyright notice for these reasons: 1) on Saturday, as I walked about a cyber-criminal tried to hijack one of my cell phones and did it by enabling the bluetooth function via the wifi of the local mall; and the cyber-criminals changed the theme on my phone handset and tried to change my photo AS I WAS TAKING IT from photo to video. 2) When I logged into an account of mine yesterday that has an online album with it, I discovered a giant hole in the software on the server that allowed cyber-criminals to know when I was logged in to try to hijack that account too.3) Today when I was logging into this account of mine, someone at remote intercepted the first phone call made by Google to MY landline telephone [how? ] to get the code; so I knew my account was hacked and that my wired landline telephone was too. I received that fake #Google message that the code is secret and that Google will never ask for it. [Which is fake because of course Google asks for the code. That is the purpose of the code i.e. to login with it. ]

So, I am posting this notice that the photos I photograph since Oct 2009 are in Missouri but I did photograph thousands of times in Colorado during years April 2007 until Oct 2009 when I moved to Missouri. I lived in Colorado longer than that but did not have any sort of camera when I was married to DBP whom I am divorced from since Oct 2007 after 4 horrible years of marriage to him. In fact, the counter on the upload methods summed up means I have photographed about 43000 times since April 2007. I photograph as I walkabout and or travel but I am not traveling out-of-state much since my mother died in GA in Jan 2010; and because of trauma that I lived through twice that made walking more difficult and painful. I do however, own some land in the state of Georgia and I was born there so it is my roots.

This is my signature as I signed it on a painting in yr 2008 and that has been seen on other blogs of mine. I am posting it here to 'connect the dots" that gloria0817 is me Gloria Poole, RN, artist residing in Missouri and born in the state of Georgia.
