Balloons sketch by Gloria Poole of Missouri and Georgia

Sketch of hot air balloons by Gloria Poole / gloriapoole / gloria0817 / Gloria on June 16 2014 in acrylic and watercolor on 9 x 12 paper. 

I, Gloria Poole, drew this, re-drew it, painted it first in watercolors, then redrew parts of it again, then repainted it in acrylics. I was trying for  a scene from the 'worm's eye view"  [laying on ground] of hot air balloons flying as photographed with a fish eye lens. I saw a photo of similar, and liked the composition but changed the balloons and positions of them and markings and decided to see if I could make one of them look like a giant seashell drifting  above the earth.  It really baffled me for about 3 days because the balloons looked too flat i.e. one dimensional and the sky didn't look right and the  background sorta melted into the sky. So, I sat it aside for a day and tried again. Finally, I think I like it.  You see plainly it is fastened to my portable drawing board at the lower right corner and the top left with bulldog clip.

I am not an employee of anyone and "work" for myself from my own apt that has a studio area, and a home office area.
