Camel sketches and painting by Gloria Poole of Missouri and Georgia

Also, I signed this sketch when I drew it so I could photograph it, then signed it again when I repainted it in acrylics. The word under the clamp is acrylic.

Watercolor drawing free-hand [with watercolor pencils] by Gloria Poole  of "camel keeper" similar to a photo I saw on twitter, except that I totally changed the person in the photo to a pretend person.  I repainted this into acrylics to make it brighter and more permanent and that repainted version is the top photo. Sketch only on 9 x 12 inch paper.

Oil painting "Jacob dreams of heaven" in size 48 inch by 60 inches oil on canvas that I, Gloria Poole, painted in yr 2008 from the Bible story in Genesis 28:12, King James Holy Bible,  of Jacob falling asleep on a rock and dreaming of angels going up and down the ladder to heaven. I painted Jacob with a turban and praying with lifted up hands; and the angels as I thought a middle eastern Semite would imagine angels to look [similar to himself and his ethnic group.].  And if you read verse 13 in Genesis 28 you will see that GOD spoke to Jacob and promised him that "all the families of the earth [would]  be  blessed " in verse 14. I am Christian, but I know that JESUS quoted from and studied the Old Testament so I do also.  Behind it is another wall where I display paintings I painted and it is setting on the carpet on the floor in my apt but not in this same position as when I photographed it. I move paintings around from time to time, when I create a new batch. The round object between Jacob on ground and camel is supposed to be a campfire with embers only . 

This sketch was from a news photo and obviously it was not too good. The background 'camel" looks awful! And the foreground camel looks sort of sly, sneaky. I didn't intend that, so I don't think I ever displayed this before.  I think I was trying to remember the pose which is why the background camel looks so un-camel-like. Usually what I try to replicate from photos is the pose or the clothing or accessories of authentic people but not the people themselves unless they are "public figures" meaning someone in elected office, or so well known that their name is a household word, or a Monarch. I do not try to make exact images of private people that I see anywhere without their permission. So, I alter the person to a pretend person, changing the features a good bit. I draw often while watching TV or from watching computer news but I do not try to make exact images of news photos but using artistic license to change it.

For the record and to establish provenance of art I have already created also: the art I have created and signed and posted to this blog of mine is part of an on-going series of art I created since year 1991 beginning in Atlanta, GA that "blossomed"  in year 2005 in  Aurora, Colorado when I lived there for one year [May 2006-May 2007], and art began to really become an integral part of my efforts to save the baby humans from premeditated destruction. In 2005, I began to realize I could use the art to illustrate my talking points in some cases, and to build a secondary "career' for me as artist.  In the year 2006 when I had endured and lived to tell about it a violent crash down a flight of stairs and had trauma, fractures, concussion, because my then-husband DBP tried to kill me to 'make it look like an accident" and he tried to twist off my broken leg, I had immobility for months except on crutches and walking boot after surgery to repair fractures and implant metal. As I sat with leg propped up I began to draw daily and paint to occupy the time and my mind. I also began to post art to the web on my blogs and websites, and also photographs I had photographed. I began a series of art then that is named "ethnic series by Gloria" [me] to attempt to draw and paint an art work of every ethnic group tribe, language, culture in the world and I created eight initial oil paintings in the first batch and posted them to the web on domains of mine.  I moved from Aurora to zip code 80203 for 2 and 1/2 years and then moved to Missouri on Oct 31, 2009 with the art I had in my possession at that time. I paint some of the sketches I created  in do-overs into oils on canvas and those are very visible on the web. I put many of them on my mini exhibit of art at https://mini-exhibition.blogspot.com, and also on my Picasa albums at https://picasaweb.google.com/gloriapoole.

My attempt to sketch modern art , sketch  by Gloria Poole of Missouri; 13 Sept 2014; acrylics 9 x 12 on paper; I was trying to draw and paint in a style unfamiliar to me similar to Picasso or other artists who do not strive for realism.  I decided to post it anyway.

I drew, painted, signed, photographed this sketch  and uploaded it today 7 Sept 2014 at 1:41pm.

It is obviously not an accurate map of the world! It is as I remembered from looking at globe some time ago and vague continents drawn by me.  The actual map was not my point of interest but the internet cable to connect to a dsl line and modem, was my focus. Those cables change colors intermittently but I selected the color yellow to brighten the sketch.  I photographed this on my portable drawing board.

Peaches in watercolor sketch by Gloria Poole of Missouri 23 August, 2014. I photographed this on my new smaller portable drawing board propped n my medium size easel. Also see other sketches by scrolling. I was born in the state of Georgia and peaches are one of biggest crops. And they are very good. 

Charcoal sketch2 of Abraham Lincoln with nose job  by Gloria Poole. I had a great time trying to do-over his nose! When I worked in the operating room as either First Assistant or Circulator, I also helped with plastic surgery cases.  Of course, that means lots of noses surgically broken by surgeon then re-shaped to be more likeable to the patient. I was thinking about that when I started drawing the face of President Abraham Lincoln and I was thinking 'if he lived today, he might do-over his nose" and then it became impossible it seemed to just draw it as it appeared on copper pennies.  Of course, I  didn't make too much of effort to draw it precisely as it is  [on pennies] / was  [in his lifetime]  but was mostly experimenting with charcoals which I very rarely draw/ create with.  This is the second time I tried to draw Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest Presidents the U S ever had.  I posted the first attempt to draw Lincoln  that I created few months ago to my blog https://gloriapoole.blogspot.com I think but you have to scroll the archives to find it.

 I, Gloria Poole, drew, painted, signed, photographed on my portable drawing board, and uploaded this sketch today 8th August, 2014 at 11:59am.  I grew up in a small town in South Georgia and lived there til I graduated high school and then moved to Atlanta, GA [and went to nursing school one week after turning 18 --years ago] and also graduated; and graduated from University of Georgia also later].   I was tired today because my oldest daughter Jennifer and her children visited me [and my other daughter Leigh and her family] for few days and I didn't rest a day or too before drawing. I didn't get the awning correct, or the windows in store front either, on this sketch. I tried re-drawing it several times  but think it's shadow is not sufficient to define it. I was too tired to care quite frankly. It's a do-over for certain.

My idea to help world peace: Christmas Tree 2014 sketch by Gloria Poole of Missouri and Georgia

I have been thinking on how all countries of the world could celebrate the Christmas season of peace and joy of Christians even if they are not Christian. And I painted an idea of a tree that glitters and sparkles which children of all ethnic groups and or religions would like ,  and  that would be a way of signaling to Christians that they are welcome in those countries. In other words, a way for non-Christian countries to send a clear message to Christians that they could visit their countries even at Christmas and be welcome.  I acknowledge that those who don't know THE SAVIOUR MESSIAH JESUS won't have the peace in their hearts that Christians do, but they can participate in the season without being ostracized or making Christians ostracized.
 I am Southern Baptist Christian and I believe in JESUS who came to earth as THE GOD in human form to understand the reality of humanity as humans perceive it, and to tell the humans about HIMSELF and about heaven and hell, and who was crucified by evil to try to silence Him, but who rose from the dead on the third day and ascended to heaven where HE LIVES. All of this I tell you is written in The Holy Bible.
 This is prompted by the events in the "middle east" of Israel, Gaza, Palestine, Syria [with Damascus of the Bible], Jerusalem,  and all the nations that are primarily Jewish or Arabic.  I fear that Armageddon as foretold in Revelations is staring the human race in the face.  Somehow, the message has to get through to the world that the same GOD made us all, and oversees all that happens on the earth, and that HE will be the final Judge of all humans on HIS JUDGEMENT DAY.  In John 10:30, KJV JESUS said, " I and my Father are ONE". The record of the vision as revealed by JESUS to the disciple John of what happens at the end of time for the earth and what happens in heaven [and hell] is the book of Revelation in The Holy Bible.
  I, Gloria Poole, drew, painted, signed, photographed on my portable drawing board, and uploaded this sketch to make a point that Christians are not going away until JESUS comes again and gathers them to heaven. So, the Arabs need to stop persecuting them and the Jews need to accept them and the world needs to commit to peace on earth, good will toward all men as the angel said when he announced the coming of JESUS on the earth.  A Christmas tree is a good symbol because JESUS was born in a stable, a manger where animals lived thus implying a rural area. A rural area has trees. A decorated [or not ] tree in the home lit up in some way to warm the dark of winter and the home is symbolic of the light of GOD on the earth.
 I do not know the answers to the conflicts in the "middle east". Perhaps the answer is in the book of Revelations that describes the final war on earth when people melt while standing [ which I think is a reference to nuclear war] that is named Armageddon in the Bible. Or perhaps the vision of Armageddon is meant to be a warning to the Jews and Arabs that they have the power to destroy the entire globe if they are not careful, and to make peace?

Flowers in vase sketch by Gloria Poole in yr 2006 when I lived in Aurora CO for a yr. This sketch 

is watercolor and tempera paint on paper. I moved to Missouri Oct 31, 2009 but for 2 1/2 yrs lived in zip code 80203 in Colorado after 2nd divorce in yr 2007 and I painted a good bit in those 2 1/2 yrs and photographed there much also. I do not have family or friends in Colorado . 

"Poppies" in red acrylic paint on canvas, painting by Gloria Poole, and I also painted this while I lived one year in Aurora Colorado as a wife of DBP. I am divorced from him since Oct 2007 and I wrote "a wife" , because he seemed to be in several adulterous relationships at the time.  It is necessary to explain some of this because someone is Colorado is still using my ID and attempting to claim phone numbers of mine and art and photos I created. I, Gloria Poole, have this art in my possession in my apt in Missouri. This may be the photo from Aurora, CO but it was my photo then too of painting on canvas, but photographed with different camera/ method than I use now. 

I try to paint , draw, sketch flowers intermittently but I find them difficult to do because they are delicate and I paint in thick brush strokes in oils.  These are not perfect. They are my attempts to perfect the creation on canvas of  a form of beauty in the natural world that I love much --flowers.
