These are 5 drawings of not real people that I made about 3 am-5am today practicing with new medium of black chalk. I numbered them instead of giving them names. Black chalk is a medium that has been used for centuries but it is only lately available in my town. So I bought some and practiced. It is blunt, not pointed, tip and I have not yet discovered method to make a point on the chalk. So, it is not precision drawing yet. Sharing so public can see results. Five in all.Copyrighted.

This is the sketch of petunias that I made today after going walkabout this morning and seeing them growing nearby. I tried to remember how they looked. This is inktense as the first layer, and then chalk to deepen the hues. It is 9 x 12 in my sketchbook of the moment. As always, I, Gloria Poole, made this, this signed it, photographed it, uploaded it to this blog of mine and that is true for all art and photos on this blog. I also wrote all words on this blog.

This is a failed sketch. I made the background with chalk and that part was ok. But then I tried drawing over chalk background with inktense. Then I put watercolor from tubes over that. I do not like this sketch but it serves as a reminder of what techniques didn't work so well. Waves on rocks and encaustic sketch made today by Gloria Poole, RN, artist / gloria0817 of/in Missouri

This is a sketch of a shoreline with granite instead of a beach and an overcast day. I have not tried to paint an overcast day before. I have tried to paint stormy skies however. This is 8 x 11 on paper with inktense and acrylic.

This is my second attempt in two days to paint with pigment mixed with soft wax. That is called encaustic in art history books. It's a fun technique because it creates textures naturally. I painted with a palette knife since I didn't want wax on my brushes. There is an entire set of tools for creating encaustic paintings that include an electrical hot plate sort of palette to melt wax and a wax melting pen which is also electrical. And wax with the pigment already in it that is commercial product. But I was mixing the soft wax of a candle on a separate palette with pure pigment to make the "paints". They are not liquid in this case but soft, sort of like wax from a candle when it has just melted and cooling. It's not a great sketch because I am not skilled at painting with a palette knife. A sketch failure made yesterday by Gloria Poole,RN,artist of/in Missouri

This is the very bad, no good sketch I made yesterday of purple irises. I tried repeatedly to get it right, but I consider this sketch a failure. I admit I was distracted. It was a gorgeous day and I spent hours sitting on my balcony watching the birds and the lawn maintenance people and then decided to try to sketch from there. There was too much external stimulation to my brain I think because I re-painted this about ten times while on balcony but I never got it right. The lawn mowers were just too distracting to me. I am posting it to encourage other people not to give up when you consider yourself a failure. If you are one of those who periodically experience a sense of having failed, remember this sketch and have a good laugh, then pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and begin again. This is acrylic on 8 x 11 paper.

This is another sketch I made yesterday but late in evening when most people had settled into their apts for the night and it was quiet. It's a simple sketch of white flowers with greenery. I made it with charcoal and watercolors, which was a new technique for me and on 8 x 11 paper.

This is a sketch I made with ink and masking fluid. It is the ONLY sketch I have made so far that used masking fluid to create the white spaces. It is 8 x 11 on paper. And I also experimented with a Chinese technique to make wheat paste to attach a second paper to give it more form. I have been experimenting with new techniques today. I made this, signed this, photographed it, uploaded it and posted as is true of all art and photos on this blog.

Criminals who break into it to steal, plunder and destroy are from the devil and they will be defeated by JESUS THE MESSIAH according to scripture. Cybercriminals broke into my isp account and landline telephones yesterday after I logged off; and they tried to steal all my blogs and one of my telephones. I am reasonably sure that the cyber-cvriminals did that using T-mobile and or Verizon servers and that the criminal-hacker is someone who works for T-mobile and or that GOD-forsaken Verizon who hacks all republican, prolifer's computers in effort to censor them and that he did it because he took a bribe too.
